A Message From the Superintendent:

To the Millbrook Central School District community:

We had a great 2013-2014 school year. I appreciate the community’s support in working together as an effort for continuous school improvement at Millbrook. Listed below are a few of the many initiatives we will be working on in the 2014-2015 school year:

Budgeting continues to be an issue with the challenging economy and reduction in state aid. The Board of Education and Administration have been working to create a budget which balances fiscal responsibility and the ability to provide our students with an educational environment which is conducive to learning and foster achievement & excellence. We greatly appreciate the continued support the Millbrook community has provided for the educational needs of all the students in our District.

We continue to work on revamping and improving the district’s web-page. We want to continue to make it more user-friendly and provide current information about our students and the workings of our District. We now have five outdoor informational signs. One for each school building, for specific school information, and the original one located at the base of the Alden Place hill, for District information. The Millbrook Educational Foundation provided the funds to purchase the signs. We are also working on creating a hard-copy District Calendar to be mailed to the home of all students.

Professional Development

One of our goals for the 2014-2015 school year is to work with our faculty to select a Professional Development program that will enhance the educational process and provide all of our teachers with the “tools” necessary to differentiate instruction for the learning styles of all of our students. We want to make sure that all of our students are receiving instruction that will allow them to experience high levels of academic success and achievement.

School Safety

We have reviewed, revised, and distributed our District plan. We are in the process of changing the locksets on our classroom doors to ensure greater safety for our students and staff. We are also going to review building safety plans and procedures.

These items are just a few of the initiatives we are exploring. The Board of Education, administrators, faculty, and staff remain committed to continuous school improvement as a means to attain our mission of providing a quality education for all of the students in our District.

Working together we can accomplish great things. Thank you for the continued support of the Millbrook community for their partnership in the education of the students of the Millbrook Central School District.
